2004-present: Modern era
Old Trail Village
Old Trail Village is the planned community on the eastern edge of Crozet that has driven most of the village's population growth since the early 2000s.
The development was started by March Mountain Properties and now houses several thousand residents in a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments organized around the Old Trail Golf Club (designed by Jerry Kamis, opened 2005). The neighborhood includes its own commercial cluster (Old Trail Village Center, anchored by Grit Coffee, acac Fitness, and Coconut Thai Kitchen), a swim club, and a network of walking trails.
Old Trail's existence is one of the main reasons Crozet's population grew from 5,565 in 2010 to 9,224 in 2020.
